Angry Checkers

Angry Checkers is a digital board game released in 2011 by developer Rovio Entertainment. It combines traditional checkers mechanics with elements from the Angry Birds franchise. The game is available on iOS and Android platforms. The objective is to eliminate all opponent pieces by capturing them, while also utilizing special abilities tied to Angry Birds characters. The board is an 8x8 grid, with each player starting with 12 pieces. Pieces are represented by bird characters (player) and pig characters (opponent). The game features a single-player campaign with 60 levels and a two-player local mode.

Gameplay follows standard checkers rules for movement and capturing. Pieces move diagonally forward one square. Captures are mandatory and performed by jumping over an adjacent opponent piece into an empty square. Multiple captures in a single turn are allowed. Pieces that reach the opposite end of the board become kings, gaining the ability to move and capture diagonally backward. Operation controls are touch-based. Players tap a piece to select it, then tap a valid destination square to move or capture. A double-tap on a piece activates its special ability, which is limited to one use per piece per game. Each bird character has a unique ability: Red (explodes, removing adjacent opponent pieces), Chuck (dashes forward two squares, capturing any piece in the path), and Bomb (detonates after a short delay, clearing a 3x3 area). Tactical techniques include prioritizing king creation, forcing opponent captures to set up multi-jump sequences, and conserving special abilities for breaking defensive formations. Players should avoid clustering pieces to minimize damage from area-effect abilities.
