Description
Snaker.io is a multiplayer online browser game in the snake genre, developed by LapaMauve. Players control a segmented snake in a two-dimensional arena, competing against other players to grow the longest snake. The game features a minimalist visual style with a grid-based playing field. The objective is to survive by consuming glowing pellets that appear randomly on the map, which increases the snake’s length and score. Colliding with another snake’s body or the arena boundaries results in immediate elimination. The game ends when only one snake remains or the player is defeated.
Instructions
Gameplay mechanics are based on real-time movement and collision detection. The player’s snake moves continuously forward. The primary control scheme uses the mouse: moving the cursor in any direction causes the snake’s head to steer toward that point. No keyboard input is required for directional control. The snake’s speed is constant, and turning radius is limited by the snake’s length—longer snakes turn more slowly. Pellets are the only consumable items; no power-ups or boosts exist. Tactical techniques include “cutting off” opponents by positioning the snake’s body in their path, forcing them to collide. Players may also “lure” enemies by circling around them, then abruptly changing direction to trap them against the boundary. A common defensive tactic is to stay near the center of the arena to avoid being cornered. Aggressive play involves rapidly weaving through dense pellet clusters to grow quickly, though this increases collision risk. The game provides no pause function; elimination is permanent for that round.
