Description
Bigmonsterz.io is a multiplayer browser-based game in the .io genre, released in 2018. Players control a large, blocky monster within a two-dimensional arena. The primary objective is to grow the monster by consuming smaller monsters and food pellets scattered across the map. The game features a top-down perspective and a minimalist visual style. Player monsters are composed of connected segments, and growth increases the number of segments. Collision with a larger monster results in elimination, causing the defeated player’s segments to scatter as food. The game ends when a player is eliminated or leaves the session. No persistent progression or account system exists; each match is independent.
Instructions
Gameplay mechanics are based on size-based predation. A monster can only consume another monster if its total segment count is greater. Controls utilize the mouse and keyboard. Mouse movement directs the monster’s head, with the body following. Left-clicking performs a “dash” ability, temporarily increasing speed at the cost of segment length. The spacebar activates a “split” function, dividing the monster into two smaller entities, each with half the original segments. This can be used to escape threats or trap smaller opponents. Tactical techniques include “herding,” where a player circles a smaller monster to limit its escape routes. “Feigning” involves splitting to appear smaller, then recombining by moving one half into the other. Players should avoid the map’s edges, as the arena is bounded. The dash ability is best reserved for escaping larger predators or closing distance on prey. Observing the leaderboard, displayed on-screen, helps identify dominant threats.
