Description
Sheep Run is a single-player endless runner video game developed by PixelJam in 2012. The player controls a sheep fleeing from a wolf across a procedurally generated, side-scrolling landscape. The objective is to achieve the highest possible distance without being caught or colliding with obstacles. The game features a minimalist art style with flat colors and a top-down perspective tilted at an isometric angle. The sheep automatically runs forward, and the player must navigate it through a series of gates, fences, and other sheep. The game ends when the wolf catches the sheep or the sheep hits an obstacle.
Instructions
Gameplay mechanics are based on lane-switching and timing. The sheep moves along a fixed number of horizontal lanes. The player controls the sheep using the left and right arrow keys on a keyboard, or by tapping the left and right sides of the screen on a touch device. Each input shifts the sheep one lane to the left or right. The wolf follows behind at a constant speed, accelerating slightly as the run progresses. Obstacles include wooden fences that block lanes and other sheep that must be avoided. Tactical techniques involve anticipating the pattern of upcoming gates and fences. The player should switch lanes early to avoid last-second collisions. Collecting golden fleece items temporarily slows the wolf, granting a brief safety window. The most effective strategy is to maintain a central lane position when no obstacles are present, allowing equal reaction time to threats on either side. The game provides no pause function; the run continues until failure.
