Description

Zombie Auto Defense is a tower defense video game developed by Digital Pomegranate Studios and released in 2012 for iOS and Android platforms. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic urban environment where players must protect a fortified safe house from waves of undead attackers. The objective is to survive progressively difficult rounds by deploying automated defensive units, such as turrets, barricades, and traps, along predetermined paths. The game features a top-down perspective and a resource management system based on scrap metal and energy, which are collected from defeated zombies and environmental salvage points. Players can upgrade defenses between rounds using earned currency. The game includes multiple difficulty modes and a survival mode with no end condition.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics operate on a wave-based system. Each wave introduces a set number of zombies with varying speed, health, and special abilities, such as exploding or armored variants. Players place defensive structures by selecting them from a bottom toolbar and tapping valid grid squares on the map. Controls are touch-based: a single tap selects a structure, a drag places it, and a double-tap sells it for partial resource refund. Active abilities, such as airstrikes or repair drones, are triggered by tapping corresponding icons in the upper right corner. Tactical techniques include chokepoint construction, where barricades funnel zombies into overlapping fields of fire from multiple turrets. Players should prioritize upgrading high-damage turrets over quantity, as resource scarcity increases after wave ten. Energy management is critical; deploying too many energy-draining traps early can leave defenses inactive during later waves. Effective use of slowing traps in front of barricades maximizes turret damage output.
