Description

Survival Commando is a top-down, real-time tactical shooter developed by Digital Fusion Interactive and released in 2003 for Microsoft Windows. The game places the player in control of a single elite soldier operating behind enemy lines in a fictional Eastern European conflict. The primary objective is to complete a series of mission objectives, including sabotage, hostage rescue, and elimination of high-value targets, across 15 linear levels. The environment is rendered in a 2.5D isometric perspective, with destructible cover and dynamic lighting effects. The game emphasizes stealth and resource management over direct confrontation, featuring a limited inventory system for weapons, ammunition, and medical supplies. Enemy AI exhibits basic patrol patterns and reacts to sound and visual cues.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics operate on a real-time pause system. The player can issue movement and attack commands via mouse clicks on the terrain or enemies. The keyboard controls character actions: W, A, S, D for directional movement; Spacebar to toggle crouch stance; Shift to sprint; R to reload the current weapon; Q to cycle through inventory items; E to interact with objects or doors; and Tab to open the mission map. Tactical techniques include using the pause function (default: P key) to assess enemy positions and plan movement without time pressure. Suppressive fire is achieved by holding the left mouse button on an enemy’s cover position, forcing them to stay behind it. Flanking is essential, as frontal assaults against entrenched enemies result in rapid health depletion. The player must conserve ammunition by using silenced weapons for stealth kills and switching to heavy weapons only for armored targets. Health does not regenerate; medkits must be manually applied from the inventory.
