Description
Machine Gun Boy is a side-scrolling run-and-gun video game developed by PixelForge Studios and released in 2021 for PC and Nintendo Switch. The player controls a young protagonist armed with a rapid-fire machine gun, navigating through 2D levels filled with enemy soldiers, robotic drones, and environmental hazards. The game features pixel art graphics and a chiptune soundtrack. The objective is to reach the end of each stage while collecting ammunition, health packs, and score multipliers. The narrative follows the boy’s quest to rescue his captured family from a militarized corporation.
Instructions
Gameplay is divided into linear stages with checkpoints. The player character moves left or right using the directional pad or left analog stick. The jump action is mapped to the A button (Nintendo Switch) or Spacebar (PC). The primary weapon fires continuously while the fire button (B button or left mouse click) is held. Reloading is automatic when the magazine empties, but manual reload is performed by pressing the X button or R key. A secondary weapon, such as a grenade launcher, is activated with the Y button or right mouse click. Tactical techniques include strafing while firing to avoid enemy projectiles, using cover objects like crates and walls to reduce damage, and timing jumps to evade ground-based traps. Ammo conservation is critical; the player should burst fire at distant enemies and reserve full-auto for close groups. Slide maneuvers (down + jump) allow quick evasion under enemy fire. Boss encounters require pattern recognition, with weak points indicated by flashing red lights.
