Description
The Pain of Nextbot is a single-player survival horror game developed by an independent studio and released in 2023. The game places the player in a procedurally generated, abandoned industrial facility. The primary objective is to locate and activate four emergency generators while evading a single, relentless enemy known as the Nextbot. The Nextbot is an artificial intelligence entity that pursues the player using a combination of line-of-sight detection and sound-based tracking. The game features a minimalist interface, with no health bar or ammunition; the player dies instantly upon contact with the Nextbot. The environment is dark, relying on a handheld flashlight with limited battery life. Success requires completing the generator sequence and reaching the central exit door.
Instructions
Gameplay mechanics center on stealth and resource management. The player must navigate the facility using a map that reveals only explored rooms. The Nextbot patrols a set path but will actively chase the player when alerted. Operation controls are standard for first-person perspective: W, A, S, D for movement; mouse for camera aiming; left mouse button to interact with generators and doors; right mouse button to toggle the flashlight; Shift to sprint, which drains stamina and increases noise; and F to use a single-use decoy flare, which distracts the Nextbot for five seconds. Tactical techniques include moving in a crouched state (Ctrl key) to reduce footstep noise, which prevents the Nextbot from detecting the player through walls. Players should memorize generator locations on the map and plan a route that minimizes backtracking. The flashlight should be used sparingly, as its beam can attract the Nextbot from a distance. When the Nextbot is in pursuit, breaking line of sight by rounding corners and hiding inside lockers (E key) is essential. Sprinting is only recommended when the exit door is in direct view.
