Description

Steal Simulator is a first-person stealth and heist game developed by a small independent studio. The game places the player in the role of an anonymous thief operating in a procedurally generated urban environment. The primary objective is to infiltrate residential and commercial buildings, bypass security systems, and steal valuable items without being detected by occupants or law enforcement. The game features a persistent progression system where stolen goods are sold to acquire better tools, lockpicks, and electronic hacking devices. The visual style employs a low-poly aesthetic with dynamic lighting to emphasize shadows and hiding spots. The game does not include a narrative campaign; instead, it focuses on replayable, escalating difficulty heists across multiple districts. Each district introduces new security measures, including motion sensors, guard patrols, and reinforced doors. The game is available on PC and console platforms, with single-player only.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics center on three core phases: reconnaissance, infiltration, and extraction. During reconnaissance, the player uses a handheld scanner to identify alarm panels, camera blind spots, and guard patrol routes. Infiltration requires silent movement, crouching to reduce noise, and using distractions such as thrown objects to lure guards away. Extraction involves carrying stolen items to a designated escape vehicle while avoiding detection. The game employs a detection meter that fills when the player is in a guard's line of sight or makes excessive noise. If the meter fills completely, an alarm triggers, and the player must escape within a time limit or be arrested, ending the run.

Operation controls are mapped to standard keyboard and mouse or controller inputs. On keyboard, the W, A, S, D keys control movement. The left mouse button interacts with objects, while the right mouse button activates the scanner. The space bar performs a jump, and the left Shift key initiates a sprint, which increases noise. The C key toggles crouch, and the E key picks up or drops items. The Q key uses a distraction item, such as a coin or radio. The Tab key opens the inventory, where tools like lockpicks and keycards are selected. On controller, the left stick moves, the right stick controls the camera, the A button interacts, the B button crouches, the X button uses the scanner, and the Y button opens the inventory.

Tactical techniques include prioritizing the disabling of security cameras using a jammer tool before entering a building. Players should memorize guard patrol patterns during the initial scan and time movements between their back-turns. Using the scanner to highlight valuable items through walls reduces time spent searching. For locked doors, lockpicking is faster than searching for keys but requires a mini-game of aligning tumblers. When carrying large items, movement speed is reduced, so players should clear a path to the exit before grabbing the target. If an alarm is triggered, immediately locating a hiding spot, such as a closet or under a desk, allows the detection meter to deplete after guards finish searching.
