Description

Ramp Racing is a vehicular arcade racing game developed by Digital Furnace Games and released in 2023 for PC and console platforms. The game focuses exclusively on high-speed, physics-based racing across a series of elevated, narrow tracks constructed from modular ramps, loops, and jumps. Unlike traditional circuit racers, Ramp Racing features no off-road sections or flat terrain; every course is a continuous, suspended structure requiring precise aerial control and momentum management. The game supports single-player time trials, local split-screen multiplayer for up to four players, and online competitive lobbies. Vehicles are categorized into three weight classes: Light, Medium, and Heavy, each affecting acceleration, top speed, and air resistance. The primary objective is to complete laps or reach a finish line without falling off the track, as any vehicle that leaves the course is immediately reset to the last checkpoint with a time penalty.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics are governed by a momentum-based physics engine. Acceleration and braking are continuous, with no gear shifting. Steering is analog, controlling both lateral movement and vehicle tilt during airborne segments. The core mechanic is the "Ramp Boost," a temporary speed increase triggered by landing a jump with all four wheels simultaneously on a ramp surface. A successful landing fills a boost meter; a failed landing (landing on two wheels or sideways) drains it. Boost can be stored and activated manually for short bursts of speed on straight sections. Checkpoints are placed at every ramp apex and turn, and missing a checkpoint forces a respawn at the last passed point.

Operation controls are standardized across platforms. On a controller, the right trigger accelerates, the left trigger brakes or reverses. The left analog stick steers and controls pitch in the air (pushing forward tilts the nose down, pulling back tilts it up). The right analog stick controls roll and yaw during aerial maneuvers. The A button (or cross button) activates the stored Ramp Boost. The B button (or circle button) performs a quick 180-degree turn on the ground. The X button (or square button) resets the vehicle to the last checkpoint manually.

Tactical techniques include "Pre-Landing Tilt," where the player adjusts the vehicle's pitch before contacting a ramp to ensure a flat four-wheel landing, maximizing boost gain. "Boost Chaining" involves activating Ramp Boost immediately after a successful landing to carry momentum into the next jump, bypassing speed loss from air resistance. "Air Braking" is performed by holding the brake while in the air, which increases drag and allows tighter turns on narrow ramps. "Roll Recovery" uses the right analog stick to rotate the vehicle 180 degrees in the air after a spin-out, preventing a fall. The most advanced technique is the "Wall Ride," where the player steers into a vertical ramp wall at a shallow angle, using friction to maintain height and bypass a section of track. This requires precise speed control and is only possible with Medium and Heavy vehicles.
