Description

Peggle [FLASH] is a browser-based iteration of the core Peggle gameplay, developed by PopCap Games and released as a free online version to promote the full retail title. The game presents a single-screen puzzle field populated by a grid of colored pegs. The objective is to clear all orange pegs from the board by launching a single ball from the top of the screen. The ball bounces off pegs, obstacles, and walls until it exits the bottom of the play area. Each peg struck awards points, and clearing all orange pegs triggers a "Free Ball" bonus, allowing the player to continue the round. The game ends when the ball is lost without clearing all orange pegs. A score multiplier is applied for consecutive peg hits, and a final "Extreme Fever" bonus is awarded for the last peg cleared. The Flash version features a limited selection of levels and a single paddle at the bottom for ball deflection.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics are governed by physics simulation. The player aims a cannon at the top of the screen by moving the mouse cursor. The ball is launched with a left mouse click. Once fired, the ball travels in a straight line until it contacts a peg, at which point it ricochets at a predictable angle based on the peg's circular surface. Each peg hit adds to a score multiplier displayed on the left side of the screen. The ball continues bouncing until it falls past the bottom boundary. A horizontal paddle, controlled by moving the mouse left or right, can deflect the ball back into the play area for additional hits. The paddle does not move vertically. Tactical techniques include aiming for clusters of orange pegs to maximize the multiplier and trigger the Free Ball bonus early. Players should aim for high-angle ricochets off the top or side walls to reach distant pegs. The "Extreme Fever" bonus is maximized by ensuring the final peg hit occurs after a long chain of bounces, as the bonus score is calculated from the accumulated multiplier. Deliberately missing pegs to allow the ball to fall to the paddle for a second pass is a valid strategy for clearing difficult boards. The game provides no power-ups or special abilities beyond the basic ball and paddle.
