Description
Hospital Doctor Emergency is a time-management simulation game developed by a small independent studio and released in 2018. The player assumes the role of a physician in a busy urban emergency department. The primary objective is to diagnose and treat a continuous stream of patients with varying ailments, from minor injuries to critical conditions, within a limited time frame. The game features a top-down 2D perspective of a hospital floor plan, including examination rooms, a treatment area, and a pharmacy. Success is measured by the number of patients successfully discharged and the speed of treatment, with penalties for patient deaths or excessive wait times.
Instructions
Gameplay operates on a real-time clock with a shift-based structure. The player controls a single doctor character using the mouse. Left-clicking on a patient initiates interaction, bringing up a diagnostic menu. The player must select the correct diagnostic tool (e.g., stethoscope, X-ray machine) from a toolbar at the bottom of the screen. After diagnosis, a treatment menu appears, requiring the player to choose the correct medication or procedure (e.g., bandage, injection, surgery). Each action consumes a small amount of the doctor’s stamina bar, which depletes over time and must be replenished by clicking the coffee machine in the break room. The keyboard shortcuts are: 1-4 for diagnostic tools, 5-8 for treatments, and the spacebar to pause the game. Tactical techniques include prioritizing patients with the lowest health bar (indicated by a red icon) over those with minor complaints, and queuing multiple patients for the same treatment to reduce movement time. Efficient pathing between rooms is critical; the player should avoid backtracking by grouping tasks in the same area. Using the coffee machine only when stamina drops below 30% maximizes uptime.
