Description

Flying Sahur is a single-player arcade-style action game developed by the Indonesian studio Digital Cocoa and released in 2022 for PC and mobile platforms. The game is set during the pre-dawn meal (sahur) period of Ramadan, placing the player in control of a character who must wake sleeping villagers and deliver food before the Fajr prayer time expires. The game world is a stylized, top-down 2D Indonesian village composed of interconnected neighborhoods, each containing houses, obstacles, and non-player characters. The primary objective is to navigate the village, collect food items from a central kitchen, and deliver them to designated households within a strict time limit. The game incorporates a day-night cycle that transitions from deep night to early dawn, visually indicating the remaining time. Failure to complete deliveries before the sky fully brightens results in a game over. Flying Sahur combines resource management, time pressure, and environmental navigation, with a cultural theme centered on communal preparation for fasting.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics are structured around a loop of collection, navigation, and delivery. The player begins each round at the village kitchen, where a limited number of food portions are available. Each household requires one portion, and the player must memorize or track which houses have not yet been served. The village map is procedurally generated, with randomized house positions and obstacle layouts such as fences, sleeping animals, and narrow alleys. The player character moves continuously and cannot stop; momentum must be managed to avoid collisions. Colliding with an obstacle or a sleeping villager causes a brief stun, wasting time. The game ends when the timer reaches zero or when all deliveries are completed, with a score based on speed and accuracy.

Operation controls differ by platform. On PC, the player uses the W, A, S, and D keys for directional movement. The spacebar activates a sprint function, which increases speed but drains a stamina bar. The stamina bar regenerates when the player is not sprinting. On mobile, a virtual joystick on the left side of the screen controls movement, and a sprint button on the right side activates the same stamina-based speed boost. There is no attack or interaction button; deliveries are automatic when the player character touches the door of a correct household. Incorrect houses are ignored.

Tactical techniques focus on route optimization and stamina management. The player should scan the map at the start of each round to identify the shortest path between the kitchen and the farthest houses. Sprinting should be reserved for straight, unobstructed sections to maximize distance per stamina unit. Turning while sprinting reduces control and increases collision risk; decelerating before corners is recommended. Memorizing house positions relative to landmarks, such as trees or wells, reduces hesitation. The player can also use the sprint function to briefly outrun sleeping animals that block paths, but must avoid direct contact. Prioritizing houses near the kitchen first allows the player to build a mental map of the remaining area under lower time pressure.
