Description

ConnectLine is a digital puzzle game developed by a small independent studio, first released in 2021 for mobile platforms and later ported to PC. The game presents a grid-based playing field populated with colored nodes. The objective is to connect each pair of matching colored nodes with a continuous line that fills the entire grid. Each line must occupy every empty cell on the board exactly once, creating a single, unbroken path that covers the entire playable area. The game features a minimalist visual design with a clean interface, and it includes over 200 handcrafted levels of increasing complexity. No time limits or scoring systems are present; the sole challenge is logical deduction. The game is classified as a single-player logic puzzle, drawing inspiration from the "Flow Free" genre but with the added constraint of full grid coverage.

Instructions

Gameplay mechanics are based on a single rule: every cell on the grid must be filled by a line connecting two nodes of the same color, and no line may cross or overlap another. The player selects a starting node and drags a path to its matching node. Once connected, the path is locked, and the player proceeds to the next pair. The game ends when all pairs are connected and every cell is occupied. If a cell remains empty or a line is forced to cross, the level is unsolved.

Operation controls differ by platform. On mobile devices, the player touches a colored node and drags a finger across adjacent cells to draw the line. Lifting the finger at the matching node completes the connection. On PC, the player clicks and holds the left mouse button on a node, drags the cursor through adjacent cells, and releases the button on the matching node. A right-click or undo button removes the most recent line. The game provides a hint system that highlights the next correct move, accessible via a button in the interface.

Tactical techniques involve planning the path order. The player should first connect pairs that are isolated or near the grid edges, as these restrict future movement. A common strategy is to work from the outside inward, preventing the creation of dead-end cells. The player must also anticipate that lines cannot cross, so a path should be drawn to leave a clear corridor for remaining pairs. If a line creates a closed loop that isolates an empty cell, the level becomes unsolvable, requiring an undo. The most effective technique is to mentally trace potential routes before drawing, ensuring that every cell remains reachable by the remaining connections.
