Apocalypse Rush

Apocalypse Rush is a top-down vehicular combat game developed by Ironclad Studios and released in 2023. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where players control heavily armed vehicles, known as Rigs, to compete in high-speed races and elimination battles. The primary objective is to survive a series of increasingly hostile environments while destroying opponent Rigs and collecting salvage to upgrade weapons and armor. The game features both single-player campaign mode and online multiplayer matches supporting up to twelve players. The visual style employs a gritty, desaturated palette with dynamic lighting effects to emphasize the harsh setting.

Gameplay mechanics are divided into three phases: race, combat, and salvage collection. Each match begins with a countdown timer. Operation controls on standard keyboard and mouse: W, A, S, D for movement; left mouse button fires primary weapon; right mouse button activates secondary weapon; spacebar triggers a short-duration boost; E key deploys a defensive shield; R key reloads weapons; Q key switches between weapon loadouts. On gamepad: left analog stick for steering; right analog stick for camera; right trigger for primary fire; left trigger for secondary fire; A button for boost; B button for shield; X button for reload; Y button for weapon switch.

Tactical techniques include drift boosting: holding the brake (S key or left bumper) while turning initiates a drift that, when released, grants a temporary speed increase. Weapon overheating management requires alternating fire between primary and secondary to avoid cooldown penalties. Salvage nodes appear randomly on the track; collecting five nodes activates a temporary invulnerability field. Environmental hazards, such as explosive barrels and collapsing bridges, can be triggered by shooting them to damage pursuing opponents.
