Description
Adventruse Hail Game is a single-player, turn-based strategy title developed by independent studio Hollow Circuit and released in 2023. The game is set in a procedurally generated arctic wasteland where the player controls a mobile weather manipulation platform known as the "Hail Engine." The objective is to navigate a hexagonal grid map, collect scattered energy cores, and survive escalating environmental hazards. The game derives its name from the primary offensive mechanic: summoning localized hailstorms to destroy obstacles and enemy constructs. Each playthrough features a unique map layout, resource distribution, and storm frequency, ensuring no two sessions are identical. The game has no narrative campaign; instead, it focuses entirely on tactical resource management and spatial positioning. Victory is achieved by collecting all energy cores on a map and reaching the extraction point before the Hail Engine's structural integrity reaches zero.
Instructions
Gameplay mechanics center on the Hail Engine's three core systems: energy, heat, and integrity. Energy is consumed to activate the Hail Cannon, which fires a projectile that creates a hailstorm on a targeted hexagon for three turns. Heat builds passively each turn and must be managed via vents or coolant items; exceeding the heat threshold disables movement for one turn. Integrity represents the platform's health, reduced by enemy attacks, terrain hazards, or overheating. The player wins by collecting all energy cores and moving the Hail Engine to the marked extraction hex.
Operation controls are keyboard-based. The arrow keys or WASD move the Hail Engine one hex per turn. The spacebar fires the Hail Cannon at the currently highlighted hex, which is selected by hovering the mouse cursor. The E key activates a vent, reducing heat by 20 points. The Q key deploys a coolant item from the inventory, reducing heat by 50 points. The number keys 1 through 4 select and use collected items from the inventory bar. The Tab key ends the turn, advancing enemy actions and environmental effects.
Tactical techniques include using hailstorms to block enemy patrol paths, as enemy units cannot traverse hexes under active hail. Players should prioritize venting heat during turns when no immediate threat is present, as overheating leaves the platform vulnerable. Energy cores should be collected in a clockwise or counterclockwise order to minimize backtracking. Placing hailstorms on chokepoints between ice ridges forces enemies into longer routes, buying time for core collection. When integrity is low, deploying coolant items is less efficient than venting, as coolant also reduces heat but does not restore integrity. The extraction point should be approached only after all cores are secured, as moving onto it prematurely ends the game without victory.
